Infinity Stones Part 4: Soul Stone

"In order to take the stone, you must lose that which you love. A soul for a soul." -Red Skull The Soul Stone is arguably the best protected Infinity Stone in the MCU. It was set up so that, in order to obtain the Infinity Stone, you had to first sacrifice someone you love. The sacrifice couldn't be reversed, by any power. This indicates some sort of time magic, possibly tying it closer to the Time Stone than any of the other Infinity Stones, but there's no other link, so it's probably just me filling space on this blog with theories. Red Skull, after being banished by the Tesseract (using the Space Stone's powers), became the guardian of the Soul Stone, warning everyone of the price it would demand. Though you never see its powers directly used (except for a 15 second scene in Infinity War), the Soul Stone was able to conjure a representation of someone who died. The Soul Stone was also capable of creating a pocket dimension of sorts. SOUL STONE: Alte

Mark's Guide to Brewing Potions

(Welcome to your tiny break from the Infinity Stone series!) Hello, there! If you're reading this, you're probably either struggling in Brewing Class in school, or you're a strange individual who actually likes learning! This guide will teach you what you need to know to make a potion that will blow your teacher's (or mom's) socks off; quite literally, in fact. Prior to making this potion, please gather the following ingredients: 3 Cups of Milk 5 Carrots 8 Gallons of Store-bought Potion Stock 1 Dragon Skull 2 Laptops 2-10 Lab Assistants (Must be Expendable) 1 Random Charm 6 Unwanted Books Also make sure you have a shield spell ready in case of disaster, and an extra large cauldron. Now that you've gathered said items, it'll be a breeze! First, dump your potion stock into the cauldron, and boil for an hour. Next, add the milk to give it additional texture. (You can dye your milk to change the color of the potion, if you like. Some side-effec

Infinity Stones Part 3: Mind Stone

"What we have is worth more than any of them ever knew." -Wolfgang von Strucker In the first Avengers movie, the Space Stone wasn't the only Infinity Stone in play. Loki used his Scepter to mind-control people, and inside his Scepter was the Mind Stone, where his Scepter's powers were coming from. The Stone's powers are strange, but it can be summed up best by the words used in the MCU Wiki: "... the Mind Stone grants whoever holds it complete control over the hearts and minds of others." The wiki also claims the Mind Stone was capable of bestowing knowledge and visions to those under its grasp. The Mind Stone was also Vision's life-force. Vision claimed the Mind Stone had a degree of sentience, too, and said the Mind Stone was warning him of Thanos. MIND STONE: Alternate Form: Scepter Power(s): Influence of Mind and Heart Color: Yellow Notable Villain(s): Loki

Infinity Stones Part 2: Power Stone

"The stone reacts to anything organic. The bigger the target, the bigger the power surge." -Gamora This is the first Infinity Stone I ever saw in its Infinity Stone state. Its only appearance outside of Infinity War and Endgame was Guardians of the Galaxy, where Ronan the Accuser attempted to use it to destroy the planet Xandar. Obviously, "Star-Prince" stopped him and contained the Stone in an orb. The Power Stone is arguably the most powerful Infinity Stone (surprise), though each Stone is powerful in its own unique way. The Power Stone is capable of mass destruction in moments. Like the other Infinity Stones, using it could corrupt and even destroy a person, although the Power Stone goes beyond that and damages any organic matter it comes in contact with. POWER STONE: Alternate Form: Orb Power(s): Mass Destruction Color: Purple Notable Villain(s): Ronan

Infinity Stones Part 1: Space Stone

In this new series I'm doing, I'm outlining the basics of each Infinity Stone from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (which I'll reference as the MCU). "The cube is a doorway to the other end of space, right? Doors open from both sides." -Hawkeye First up is the first Infinity Stone to have made an appearance in the MCU: the Space Stone. It didn't initially appear as the Space Stone, instead appearing in the form known as the Tesseract. The Space Stone was a very simple stone to understand. It allowed one to move from Point A to Point B through the usage of portals, though not individual teleportation. The first MCU villain to utilize the Space Stone was Red Skull, but perhaps the most notable user was Loki, who used it to bring an army to Earth. When he was stopped, the Tesseract was then delivered to S.H.I.E.L.D. for safekeeping. SPACE STONE: Alternate Form: Tesseract Power(s): Teleportation Color: Blue Notable Villain(s): Red Skull, Loki

Mark Borne News: Issue #8

I've now got 8 issues. Here's my list so far: 1. Virtual donuts are tasteless 2. Blog archive seems to not be working right 3. I've got no inspiration 4. The library doesn't have the next book in a series I'm reading 5. Still no inspiration 6. Zzzzzzzzz.... 7. Took me two days longer to write this than I'd hoped 8. Virtual coffee beans are also tasteless (This is my most creative on-the-fly joke so far) Anyways, on to important club business! For starters, the blog archive hasn't been working for some people, and I think I know what the problem is, but if I'm write, then it's the way I've formatted my blog. This means it cannot be fixed until I change the formatting of the blog (Blog 4.0 Update: Coming Sometime In The Next 40 Years). An easy detour is using the search bar in the top-right corner of the screen to find what you're looking for. Also, this blog has become a temporary desert, as it gets precisely 0 inches of inspi

No, I'm Not Dead

I have been inactive, yes, but I am still alive and writing. The early part of this month really threw me off my game, though, so I'm still trying to get back into a working cycle of writing and blog management, and until I reach that cycle, most-to-all of the posts on this blog will be from you guys. I will try to get another Mark Borne News Issue written in the next week, however, that will cover recent events, and also include an exclusive spoiler-free review of Endgame. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support! -Mark Borne

The Shadowed Sea (Poem by Eleanor Moor-Laine)

And when the shadowed sea slicked, The dead moon of the sea was watchful, And in its glare, with thy dead streams, Lapped once with earthly stars, And there birthed the era to be Beyond the words that melt with wax Upon the structured shines of light, Between dreams and eidolons, And I’d remember, day passing, Memory was dark and lit by dead moons Thousands of them into the mire, Alone with sorrow in its glaze, Alone with the lurks of darkness Wrathful by a shore’s blanketed leaf That was adrift between the bones and rivers Of this eden of sorrow, alone. And when the shadowed sea slicked, The dead moon of the sea was watchful, And in its glare, with thy dead streams, Lapped once with earthly stars, Eras crept upon, sooner than the last, With time as a wasted notion, alas, With memory darkly splintering upon the glass strained, As the lone star in the night, Weeping bitterly to its breast; And below by a dozen little softened moths in lamps, tucked, Was the remembrance of that sweet so

Lucas Stories: The Lonely Birthday (May 2019)

The boy wandered the house, looking for the girl, but he couldn't find her. He searched and searched but none of the people there he wanted to spend his birthday with.      He went and found his mom. "Where is she?" he asked her.      His mom looked and him and sighed. "Something happened. She couldn't be here."      Something happened. The boy hated that phrase.      "Something happened" was what adults told kids when they didn't want their kids to be upset.      "Something happened" was what kids were told when adults ate all the cookies.      "Something happened" was why his father couldn't come home, yet.      He waited and waited, but not even cake made him happy. Not even presents cheered him up.      The next day he went to the playground again and waited for her. She didn't show up.      Lark, who had followed, frowned. "What's the point of this place? I should replace it with a giant statue

Florida (Poem by Mark Borne)

It's amazing how much grows, Even while we wither and whine. The heat of Florida, A place of forests of life, A place where inside is best, And where sweat is daily. A place where turtles crawl, And birds sing and dolphins dance, And squirrels run on cables for roads. It's amazing how much lives; Maybe we will, too, If we give it a chance. Mark's Addition: The problem is, I already gave Florida a chance. It didn't help.

Spring (Sonnet 1) (Written by Anonymous)

As a fragrant flower of the blooming Spring, You flourished in a sweet essence by a shimmering blue- light crystal pond, There as Queen Primavera waltzed on fields of golden grain, as the twirled in her dancing fling, As blossoms swayed in ripples of soft waves, your gentle wind blows of rain made me fond. You grew as a veined skinned root up the legs of a dock, As a vine of lilac ivy curled about, you wouldn't let go of this red flower, But as then as a crimson drop of blood on the pale face of snow, was but the breath of a clock, And then you ceased to shed a hollow tear and broke with the twisted heat of Summer. A stark blush break of dawn as pale day left as a whisper, began to fade as the voice of ghost, The wraith of Winter dark as frozen ice and cold as the chill wind of aged night, But then the white vestige of time, like the bed of the still river shivered and broke, as you began to boast, But you as as the scarlet rose and sweet lavender lily are swallowed from earth w

A Friend in Me (Poem by Mark Borne)

The road is long, And bumpy, too, But just remember, I'm here for you. Over the mountains, Across the sea, Remember you've got, A friend in me. -To an Anxious Friend Mark's Addition: Okay, so, sort of modified. I wrote it for, surprise, an anxious friend, and then I decided to use it as a filler because Lucas Stories (sorry) isn't finished yet.

A Letter to Broccolini (Written by Sila en Anor)

My dear Broccolini, You said in your letter that the Squash claim it was their ancestors that finally turned the tide in the Great War of the Foods. Do not listen to such lies! In truth it was our own ancestor, Broccoli the Great, that dealt the decisive blow of the War. But I will tell you the story from the beginning. In the kingdom of Home, there reigned the Queen named Mom. Mom loved the race of food called Healthy, the chief house of which was that called Vegetable. These loved their Queen and served her and her children, and all the little Princes and Princesses grew strong and healthy by the power of the Vegetables. That is, until the day when the greatest evil the Vegetables had ever seen snuck into Home. That’s right, Broccolini, it was the Junk Foods!!! Those monsters that cause every Veggie child to quake with fear! The Junk Foods stole into the kingdom, managing to avoid the notice of the Queen’s guards, and cast a magic spell on the Princes and Princesses! Every last one

Remembering the Poet of Steel

So, I noticed I wasn't getting any more post notifications from the Poet of Steel's blog, and I checked; the blog has been deleted. Furthermore, I checked his profile. It was also gone. I'm uncertain what happened, but whatever the case, he will be missed. Sidenote: A post was submitted to be posted today, but I wasn't sure it fit in with the rules of the blog. Then I looked for the rules to verify, and found they were hard to find, so I copied them to the "Read Here First" section. I hold no fault against the author of the submitted piece, especially since it likely is family friendly among many circles, but my family is pretty solidly Christian, as is another family I know reads this blog, and according to our particular beliefs, it isn't family friendly, so I have elected not to post it so no controversies will be sprung up. Sorry for the inconvience, but on the flip side, thanks for posting it, because I probably wouldn't have thought of movin
