The Tragedy of Fairforest

Fairforest has now been nuked. For the next 24-ish hours, there will be no roleplay active on my blog. (Moment of silence for our fallen elf traitors.) I will, of course, take this moment to advertise the Edge of Space roleplay, by providing a list of ways it'll be better than the Fairforest roleplay! Year-Round It's not just half a year this time; it's a full year! Character Customization In the Fairforest Roleplay, I just placed down boxes and you made your character entirely yourself. This can be way less limiting and even more fun, but it's also difficult and takes a bit of thinking. "Edge of Space" has 5 preset races, however, that you can choose from! (Have to choose from, more accurately.) This may be a con for you, but for me, who doesn't wanr to ponder exactly what kind of character to create, it's nice. No Politics The Fairforest Roleplay had a political conflict: the aftermath of the war. But this "Edge of Space" ro

(UPDATED) Six Word Story Contest (Part 2!)

This was evidently very popular, so I'm bringing it back for January! Contest is actually open right now ! Submissions will close on the 27th of January, and the following week is when the tournament voting will take place. "Submit something and have some fun!" (That is not my contest entry.) (Nor was that side note.) Last Six-Word-Story Contest Champion: Gabby Mark's Predicted Winner For First Contest: Kyra Mark's Predicted Winner For This Contest: Mark UPDATE: PLEASE only 3 at the most. I just got 14 submissions from Kyra, and realized I forgot to repeat that rule. And Kyra, please choose three of yours to actually use. If you need, I can send you a list of every one you've submitted.

Childhood Friend (Poem by Mark Borne)

A childhood friend once lost, Ages ago deep in the past. Then one day I thought you up, And like magic you're back at last. I knew you back then, When we played together, But now I know you no longer. An echo of the past, A figment of my imagination, A whisper in the dark, A memory in the wind. I know you no longer, But my friend you still are. We lost each other back then, But now, briefly, We're together once again.

Rise of Skywalker: The Ant's Opinion (SPOILER FREE)

Okay, so, I pretty much just got back from this neat place called Zona Fresca, which I went after going to a mall (wasn't my idea, though I didn't completely hate it), which was a follow-up to watching Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with my family. Note, this review-type post is as close to 100% spoiler free as I can possibly make it, although I won't promise you won't find any spoilers; bear in mind, any post/video/article discussing an opinion can leak spoilers inadvertently, or even leak spoilers so subtle maybe only 1 or 2 people pick up on it. (But, I can promise I will leak nothing major.) So, I must say, storytelling wasn't spectacular. I suppose the older films like Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back kinda raised the bar high for Star Wars, but Rise of Skywalker didn't quite hit that. While the story was brilliant, and the movie itself was amazing, it's not what many would consider a Star Wars quality film. So, if/when you watch it,

Return and Poll Results

I have returned from my amazingly exhausting vacation, and surprisingly have a ton of energy right now. It's amazing how a single night can turn the tide on one's energy levels. Fairforest was fun, wasn't it? Well, it will not be making a recovery. The Fairforest Sequel Roleplay earned a total of one vote. Curious what the results are? I've made a list below, from first place to last! Out of a total of 7 voters, 6 of which voted for 2 roleplays as I recommended... Edge of Space - 7 Votes New Hope City - 3 Votes Fairforest Sequel - 1 Vote The Kingdom of Kleen - 1 Vote Alternate Fantasy Roleplay - 1 In other words, everyone who participated voted for at least Edge of Space. In other words, Edge of Space is met with 100% popularity, and is therefore the obvious choice. If I were to, say, create a Kingdom of Kleen roleplay instead, I'm pretty sure at least one of you roleplayers will boycott me, and the rest might burst into argument. However, I will

"'Hope' is the thing with feathers" (Poem by Emily Dickinson)

Mark's Note: Okay, so, this isn't something just randomly submitted to be posted on this blog. This is a poem by a famous poet a while back that I just found and absolutely adore. For those of you unfamiliar with who Emily Dickinson is, she wrote nearly 1,800 poems, and yet fewer than 12 of them were published in her lifetime. Instead, after she died, her sister found Emily's poetry, and had it published. She's one of my favorite famous poets ever, and after finding this poem by her...well, I just really wanted to share it. There's so much meaning within this simple (and short) poem. "Hope" is the thing with feathers - That perches in the soul - And sings the tune without the words - And never stops - at all - And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard - And sore must be the storm - That could abash the little Bird That kept so many warm - I've heard it in the chillest land - And on the strangest Sea - Yet - never - in Extremity, It asked a crumb - o

(UPDATED) 2020 Roleplay Poll

UPDATE: So, yeah, forgot to say this, but the poll will close either on the 25th, or the first chance I've got after then. If you're planning on voting, please get it in by the 25th, though, just to be safe. The extra time between the poll closing and 2020 will be time I use to write up the new roleplay. Alright, so, 2020 is stalking us, ready to pounce when we least expect it, so we've got to prepare. No, I don't mean New Years Resolutions. I mean Roleplay. With the Secrets In Fairforest Roleplay coming to an abrupt (and rather lousy) end, I figured voting for next year's roleplay would be smart, since it'll allow us to transition seamlessly between the two. Mostly. Here are the options: Secrets in Fairforest Sequel: No idea how this is gonna work, but essentially, Fairforest is being rebuilt, and tensions are at a record high. Without outside intervention, the Elves will go extinct, and another war will emerge. Edge of Space: Turns out, if you trav

Miles Apart (Poem by Mark Borne)

Funny how a question about socks, Led to the strong bond we have now. Twelves years we have had our backs, Never disappointing the other's trust. We're miles apart, yet we still talk; The only thing against us is time, Which stands not against our hope. We'll see each other again soon, Because we're best friends forever, And that ain't gonna change.

Haiku Contest Cancelled

I got three amazing entries (which I'll post below), but unfortunately only one contestant, so I have been forced to cancel the contest. 1. I wrote a Haiku I really didn't want to Are you happy now? 2. I forgot the theme The theme was about Christmas Oh well, my mistake 3. "Bah Humbug!" I say I shouldn't be restricted I'll write what I want

Tales of the Lonely Sun: Extra Information

FORENOTE: I didn't include this with the primary post when I first wrote it, so I made a second post in order to conserve the style of the first. The formatting was messed up here, too, like the other post. My tricks managed to fix this one, however, and not the other, which baffles me. About Us: We’re four girls who love reading, writing, and most importantly, Jesus. The Lonely Sun emblem symbolizes the Light amidst the Darkness, an illustration of the world and how it’s always been. We hope to focus on reading and writing books that are full of light opposed to books centered around darkness. The Tales of the Lonely Sun team are spreading the word about good moral books, and how to write them. We host a seasonal writing contest for writers looking to share their work, and offer book reviews for the book dragons among us. The Team:   Carlye Krul Carlye is a teenager who lives in fictional worlds. She is a fangirl and when Carlye isn’t writing or reading, she’s

Tales of the Lonely Sun Blog Tour // Interview with the Team

FORENOTE: I am aware the formatting is messed up...I just don't know how to fix it. Heads up, I've never participated in a blog tour, so I have no idea if I'm technically doing this right. Anyways, Tales of the Lonely Sun is a new-ish blog (created back in October, I believe) that I stumbled across when mindlessly clicking a link on another site (I know, the very thing I warn everyone not to do). It's a Jesus-centered blog that, as the name implies, illustrates the concept (through name and deed) of a Light in the Darkness. What could be my favorite thing about their blog (though it remains to be seen, as of the moment) is their bi-monthly writing contest. Granted, I'm writing this article on the literal last day of the contest, and it's about a month later this is actually being posted, so you probably won't be able to participate in their first ever contest, but the next one should be fun. They also have a giveaway, apparently, which you can find w

Pathetic - Short Story [Nexus Exclusive] | Filler with the PoetOfSteel

Pathetic Short Story by the PoetOfSteel I picked myself off of the track field as I brushed off the dirt. "Let's try again!" "You're overworking yourself, Ryan!" Jessie exclaimed. "Must...be... better!" I gasped. I don't think she notices, but I can't take being called "pathetic" all the time. It's just too much for me to handle now that even some of the staff started calling me that. And oh, I was done with it. I ran some more laps, about 10, before I started wheezing. I just kept going anyway. I shall NOT quit! Eventually, I collapsed, and Jessie ran over to me. "Ryan, STOP! This is TOO much! You can't keep-" "Winning that Track League Competition Finale only...way...to prove...that me not such...thing as chick... chicken." I was breathing hard and fast as Jessie sat me up with a few water bottles, and I drank all 3. "No Ryan, THIS will make you look worse! You can't keep doing th

Neverland (Poem by Mark Borne)

Everything's changed, Yet nothing at all; You used to be meek, But now you are wild. You used to hide yourself, But now you're an open door. You used to be nobody, Nobody never meant so much to me. The Silent Storm which was tamed, The Quiet Word which lit me up. I was dark Christmas Tree, And once again I'm dull. One day I went to Neverland, And then you grew up.

The Time Raiders: Episode 1 (Living Shadows)

This is a story I started writing. Now that my Harry Potter Story has come to a season finale, I figured I'd share this first episode of another story I'm writing. It's still a massive work in progress, this is basically all I've written, but if there's enough hype over this, I'll continue posting as I write it. If I do continue posting it here, later on, if you feel you understand the story well enough and want to try writing a section, let me know; I'd be interested in seeing how drastically my plans change! “Somehow, somewhere, there’s more to the world than we think,” Sarah mumbled, staring up at the stars. “Don’t you agree?”           “Maybe,” Alex agreed. He really didn’t think so, though. Most of the world had already been explored, and he figured they’d already discovered aliens if they existed. So he really disagreed with Sarah.           “There has to be,” Sarah told Alex. “Life can’t be all boring.”           Alex simply shrugged and con

I Ran (Poem by Kyra)

From fears I ran In tears I ran I ran from all which I did not understand From pain I ran In shame I ran I ran, never caring of the wake I left behind. From change I ran In rage I ran I ran from everything I cared about I ran from everything I knew Then, I ran right into you
