Incorrect Movie Summaries: The Emperor's New Groove (Presented by Mark Borne)

Whoops, I forgot about this! But it's back for one of my favorite animated films, "The Emperor's New Groove", which was created before I was born! Wow! WARNING: Spoilers present! This is a summary that gets the plot of the movie wrong, sort of how Honest Trailers do it, however spoilers may still be present. In this movie, Emperor Kuzco is turned into a llama by Yzma's assistant Kronk, who was supposed to put poison in Kuzco's drink. Except, instead, he puts "llama extract" in the drink, which turns the emperor into a llama. After that, he's instructed to "finish the job", which is when he puts Kuzco in a bag, dumps him into an artificial river that becomes a very tall waterfall, and then subsequently saves Kuzco in order to get rid of him a different way. (Talk about stupid assistants, right?) He, however, loses the bag, which lands on the cart of a peasant named Pacha. Pacha had recently been informed by Kuzco that his hometown

Colors 2 (Poem by Mark Borne)

I wrote a poem a while back called "Colors", but I felt like this one also deserved that title, thus "Colors 2". Black;    Pain and suffering,    Which destroys the strongest of us. Red;    Anger and jealousy,    Which tears us from within. Yellow;    Shame and silence,    Which divides us all. Brown;    Sorrow and pride,    Which always awaits journey's end. Purple;    Royalty and honesty,    Which advocates for justice. Orange;    Optimism and hope,    Which keeps our spirits up. Green;    Life and freedom,    Which amazes us always. Blue;    Peace and kindness,    Which gives back to friends. Pink;    Love and innocence,    Which banishes the darkness. White;    The sum of all good things,    Which inspires us always.

Top 10 Recommended Songs (Mark Borne Edition)

First off, WHO HERE LOVES FILLER POSTS?! :D I do, because it means I get to write meaninglessly and procrastinate with my stories! Second off, be warned, these are songs I recommend. They're bound to not exactly be the most popular songs. And now, in reverse order, the top ten recommendations! 10. Immortals (by Fall Out Boy, from Big Hero 6) 9. Sky Full Of Stars (by Coldplay) 8. Come Together Now (from The Lego Movie 2) 7. Super Cool (feat. Robyn & The Lonely Island, from The Lego Movie 2) 6. A Million Dreams (from The Greatest Showman) 5. (by Owl City, from Wreck-It-Ralph) 1. Friends Are Family (feat. Will Arnett & Jeff Lewis, from The Lego Batman Movie) You may have noticed that most of my favorite music was actually written for specific movies. Actually, 7/10 of my Top 10 are fro

Mark Borne News: Issue #10

First, a major announcement. Most of you are probably going to be shocked  when you hear this, but I've been busy. Yes. You read right. I've been busy . If you don't know what the definition of the word "busy" is, I'll define it for you in the same way most dictionaries define words: The act of being busy or never not being busy. As far as news, I've got some exciting blog updates! Despite minor tweaks or changing the shade of some colors, the current formatting is the new Nexus 4.0 update! I pretty much got it first try, thankfully. But I still think I might have messed up the formatting slightly when copying the format from my test blog to this blog, so let me know if something isn't showing up! So far, the roleplay has been very active, but if you want to join in, go right ahead! There's still room for more! Just note that you will have to click the "Load More" button at the bottom of the page, under all the comments, in order to

6/16/2019 Statistics

YAY! Random post for no apparent reason! (I'm tired and need to write something, so...) Currently, blog views have gone up to 47,762 views. According to the line graph, from November 2018 to February 2019, the blog increased, but then lowered going into March and April, and stayed consistent into May. So far, it seems it's staying consistent through this month, too. In the past month, the most popular posts are as follows: Mark's Guide to Brewing Potions Yay, go Mark's Guide! :D Abandoned I must be honest, I loved that poem "Of Death" by Lucy and "Blue Evening" by Shaly Single post, double poems, by the way. I hope I labeled it right in this post...? O.O Marysa Writes Blog Review That post was written back in January; it is now the most viewed post, being even more popular than the first post Mark Borne News: Issue 8 Where I list 8 issues The Shadowed Sea Written by either Eleanor or Lucy, depending on whether you remembe

Jackson's Origin (Part 1: Orphan's Gamble)

(...there probably wasn't any need for my roleplay character to get his own actual story, but it fills this blog with posts, so whatever. Plus, I've got writer's block with my Watching Time story, so...) Jackson yelped as he was tossed out of the orphanage. It wasn't even an expression, he was really tossed out the window. "Get out, we don't need another mouth to feed!" grumbled the lady who ran the place. Jackson heard the implication, as well, that since he was no longer under eighteen, they were legally allowed to leave him on the side of the road.      And yet Jackson couldn't help but consider the negative aspect. If they need more food, that thug that threw me out could probably have his rations cut in half, and still be fed plenty. He probably eats more than the rest of the city combined!       Jackson instinctively reached for his satchel, intending to find some sort of tool to help him, but came up short. His eyes widened and he charged to

The Future of the Blog and Roleplay Update

The primary focus of this post is the Nexus Blog 4.0 Update. Nexus Blog 3.0 lasted about as long as 1.0 and 2.0 combined, so I think it was a pretty good run overall, however, there are a few glitches I want to fix that I think are caused by the format of the blog, which is incompatible with the layout. So, new design! The Nexus Blog 4.0 Update is going to retain the gray background, if I can help it. For many of my posts, I have to change the text background to be the same, but they don't change when the blog does, so I'm going to try to keep the background the same. The layout of the blog and the red/purple secondary colors are the primary target of change. If you have any recommendations for the Nexus Blog 4.0 Update, let me know! I'd appreciate advice! Also, for all you Roleplayers, feel free to create a second character!

Mark's Guide to Making PB&J Sandwiches

If you're reading this guide, chances are it's lunchtime, and you're hungry, and you're wondering how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Never fear! This guide will save you from your plight and give you a completely edible sandwich!* (DISCLAIMER: We are not responsible for any sickness that may result of the following recipe.) The first step is gathering some ingredients, and I've supplied a list below: 2 Slices of Bread (Preferably burned) 1 Extra Large Jar of Peanut Butter 2 Jars' worth of Jam or Jelly 1 Gallon of Milk 5 Tablespoons of Syrup 2 Spoonfuls of Dust 1 Cup of Cheese Take a bowl and place all the peanut butter inside, then mix in the jam/jelly and milk. Once it's mixed together thoroughly, spread all of it on the two slices of bread. Now, put the two slices of bread together, slowly drizzle the syrup on top, sprinkle the dust and cheese on top, and congratulations! A perfect sandwich! Other things you can do to make it bet

Mageborn Studios Pictures: Wave 1

Wave 2 will be ready soon, but for now, enjoy Wave 1! (I'm, like, 99% sure I overdid the filters a little bit) Most of these colors are just enhanced using Amazon's filtering features. This is my personal favorite. I must admit, the original and the filtered version look identical. This one was made ugly for a reason. The picture that threw all of the formatting of this post off.

Infinity Stones Part 6: Time Stone

"You're full of tricks, wizard. Yet you never once used your greatest weapon." -Thanos to Doctor Strange. The Time Stone is, I think, the most powerful of the Infinity Stones. It's abilities are pretty clear: manipulation of time. In the movie Doctor Strange, it is used to keep a dark enemy, Dormammu, from conquering Earth, as he's set in an endless time loop until he finally agrees to return to the Dark Dimension and leave Earth alone. In Infinity War, it's got another use. Doctor Strange uses it to predict more than 14 million futures, and pinpoint the only future in which they stop Thanos. He later sacrifices the Time Stone to save Tony Stark, and Thanos leaves Titan and journeys to Earth, where he uses the Time Stone to bring the Mind Stone back into existence. Needless to say, the Time Stone is an exceedingly powerful tool, no matter who wields it. TIME STONE: Alternate Form: The Eye of Agamotto Power(s): Manipulate Time in Various Ways,

Storm (Poem by Gabby L.)

I remember the nights being left out in the storm, cold rain pouring down over a shivering body The downpour causing sight not to be an option as hail came down harder than I’ve ever seen Lightning crashed around me and the sky danced with colors I could see through my tightly closed eyes Thunder roared and shook the puddles my feet were in as another bolt of lightning hit a nearby tree In that moment of pure desperation and no way out of the rain, I looked to the sky and I prayed I cried out, begging God to end this storm, to turn away the clouds and give me warmth I sobbed in chokes hoping He heard me, hoping He would be my shield, hoping that my faith was real And within minutes, the storm eased, and my anxiety faded away like the escaping breeze The animals came out from their shelter and the world refreshed as I stood in wonder At the way in just an instant, the tables turned, and I was okay, I was alive, I was heard I still have a hard time grasping the truth today that He saved

Contest Results and Roleplay Information

As far as the contest goes, I wish I could say I was surprised. There was only one set of submissions, belonging to S. Thorston Scarlett and Lucy J., but don't let that get you down! In a sense, you won because you were the only two who actually set the time aside to participate! I will post your submissions later in the week. As far as the roleplay goes, it will feature life in an elvish castle in the middle of the forest. The kingdom is now home to many other races. Roleplay Rules: Start with 1 character per person Keep it family friendly There will be a character form you need to fill out, and I will have to accept the character Be polite Bear in mind, if you check for email notifications, you'll probably get anywhere from none to hundreds; the roleplay is fueled by activity, and since I've obviously never had a roleplay on this blog before, I have no idea what to expect.

Infinity Stones Part 5: Reality Stone

*Note that each stone now has a quote related to it listed. "Reality can be whatever I want it to be."  -Thanos Thor proved that the Infinity Stones were indestructible when he took Mj ølnir and attacked the Reality Stone. In the end, it wasn't destroyed, so they took it to the Collector for safekeeping. At first glance, it seems like it changes your perspective on reality, but when you take notice of what happened to Star-Lord's blaster, you realize it changes reality itself, which then begs the question, "Why couldn't Thanos use the Reality Stone to change the universe, without the help of the other stones?" The answer is that the Reality Stone is non-lethal to targets. Despite Thanos crumbling Drax into many pieces, as soon as Thanos left, Drax was returned to his normal form. This shows the Reality Stone's sole weakness: every bit of reality is non-lethal, and temporary. This weakness is minor, but it's also fatal if you rely on it too

Mark Borne News: Issue #9 (And June Ant Awards!)

This is a two-in-one post! Not only will we cover the monthly Ant Awards, we will talk about recent blog developments! For starters, I want to bring attention to the new label, "Mark's Choice"! This label will be given to posts Mark has particularly enjoyed; posts I have added so far include the new post "Abandoned", the first "Lark Adventures" by Al, Sila's "Broccolini", and "How to Write a Novel" by Luxa! (I wanted to add couple of Shaly's poems, too, but I cannot find the ones that stuck out to me, and I can't remember their names, either. Can you remember which ones they were, Shaly? If so, I can add them.) Also, I have a new blog moderator/writer, who has access to all the same tools I do, now: M. Blake! Granted, none of you knows who he is, and he's not super talkative, and he's doing practically nothing right now, but he's quite busy right now, too, and he's still familiarizing himself with
