The May Ant Awards!

**DISCLAIMER: This was written two days prior to its release, so some content might be out of date** The April Ant Awards was released the final day of March, and this month's edition, the May Ant Awards, is released the last day of April! The timing seems way off, but simultaneously, it seems to have come far too late, so it's good it's released a day early, same as the April edition. For those participating in the Spring Collaborative Challenge, an update/reminder: May will be used to revise one another's sections. I'll write another post tomorrow with a more detailed explanation. Wait, what...? I'm supposed to choose Reader of the Month? Sigh, it's never easy. Never. I'd rather try finding a needle in a burning haystack, which I hear can be quite painful if you have no clue what you're doing, and I wouldn't know what I was doing. So, I piled a ton of my blog readers into a project and randomized the results! That's right! A computer

Backtrack (Poem by Marysa Writes)

Start at the end, and work your way backwards until you hit the obstacle that brought you to the finish line in the first place. Give yourself a second chance to run five miles instead of four, and bathe in the victory of newfound achievements. And check out her book "The Four Stages of Poetry" on Amazon!

Moon Flower (Poem by Luxa)

People come from all over to see us in bloom Under the light of the shining moon Most will only see us from afar Perfection and elegance they will say with their mouths ajar Knightly we stand, proud and tall Incredible is what you’ll think when you see us all Never fear when we close, for we are only taking a short doze Author's Note: If you liked this piece please come check out my blog 'Luxa's Corner'. It is fairly new so there is not a whole lot content but that will change very soon. P.S. See if you can find the hidden word Mark's Addition for the Readers: Sorry I posted this late; today has been rather delayed. Mark's Addition for Luxa: I FOUND THE HIDDEN WORD!!! :D You used the same technique as last time!

Spam (Poem and Spam by Mark Borne)

This is a poem about Spam, This is a poem about Spam, This is a poem about Spam, This is a poem about Spam, This is a poem about Spam, And it's a rather literal poem, And it's a rather literal poem, And it's a rather literal poem, And it's a rather literal poem, And it's a rather literal poem, Without any good rhymes, Without any good rhymes, Without any good rhymes, Without any good rhymes, Without any good rhymes, And really no point to it. And really no point to it. And really no point to it. And really no point to it. And really no point to it. Mark's Addition: When Kyra submitted her entry to the Spring Collaborative Challenge, she left me several options; believe me when I say "Spam" was the best alternative.

Cliffhangers (Poem by Mark Borne)

Every story's like a road, With twists and turns all around; Yet at the end, the road will drop, And plunge into a great abyss. You suddenly hang and desperately grasp, Searching for answers that don't yet exist. And then the pen will be picked up, Filling the holes and writing new stories. Then the cycle starts all over again, And soon again you begin to hang.

Mark Borne News: Issue #7

Well, we have a lot of news to cover, I woke up late today, and I really want to get this out there, so I'll be to-the-point! Kyra has written an addition to the Spring Collaborative Challenge  (scroll down)! You can find it under the challenge's page. It's the third part. Kyra, alas, has won the Spitfire-Kyra Competition. It looked tied, but someone wanted to vote anonymously for Kyra, and thus Kyra is the victor. -sighs- Sorry, Spitfire. I have failed you... NEW BLOG HAS BEEN FEATURED! Visit Luxa's Corner here ! In addition, I have posted a poem for Luxa on this blog ! Check them out when you've got time! Endgame: Hulk has been released! It's rather disappointing and lazy, but it's there. Watching Time has been delayed for April. I have started a new writing system, where every month I set certain goals for my writing, and I have dedicated April to a couple of writing projects that are unrelated to this blog. In May, I will focus on writing 4 ad

How To Write A Novel (Poem by Luxa)

How to write a novel Is not an easy subject to teach Your first draft may be awful And you may be using the wrong speech But don't let that get you down Stand proud and face these challenges in stride There may be times where you want to shutdown When you feel like all hope has died But if you find the courage to come back from the brink You'll find you came out stronger The pressures before - those that caused you to sink Will no longer drive you into a corner How to write a novel Is not an easy subject to teach It is not something you should make based on a model It is not something that is out of reach If you are truly determined A novel is something that will make you thrilled Your future may be uncertain but Don't let deter you from making your mark on the world Author's Note: If you liked this piece please come check out my blog ' Luxa's Corner '. It is fairly new so there is not a whole lot content but that will change very soon. Mark's Add

Cinderella in Space (Written by Kyra Organa)

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away, there was a kind alien widower from the planet Zebo and his daughter, Ella. After a few years, he decided to remarry. Unknown to the native Zeboan, his knew wife was an evil Gloobian. After a few months, the old man passed away, leaving Ella in the green gooey hands of her new mother. When Ella’s mother moved in she brought her two daughters. Penelope, the oldest daughter, had the reddest, frizziest hair ever! Polly, who brought her gloopy pet dog, Princess, had the biggest unibrow yet! Penelope had the deepest, scratchiest voice, so bad, that the old man gave her a cough drop for her birthday. Polly had the biggest, baddest mole in the galaxy! “What’s your name, girl?” was the first thing Quintar, Ella’s new mother, sneered to her. Polly and Penelope were jealous over Ella’s beauty. They told Quintar that Ella was more beautiful and getting more attention then them. As soon as Ella’s father passed away, Quintar made Ella he personal serva

Paid the Price (Poem by Kyra Organa)

All of us had paid the price Because of our belief Creature’s freedom, for the “greater good” is the sacrifice Destitute souls everywhere are begging for relief Evil cruelty has ravaged all Faithless leaders driven by corruption Greatness comes before the fall Hail! Before long there’ll be an eruption Ideas, hopes, and dreams are born Justice is demanded, and they won’t turn back “Kaboom!” goes the capital, now battle scarred and torn Lights in the sky, flames from the recent attack Men and women struggle to thrive Now worse than before, more lives are lost Objecting to the slaughter yet fearing for their lives People are wondering if it’s worth the cost Questioning the world they know, Rebellion is growing Sacrifices are made, lives are lost, although, The fight is showing no signs of slowing Unknown the enemy, their regime is falling Vacating their territory, they surrender Weaker than they knew possible, away they go crawling X-ed out of their point of great splendor Yet in the

Death of a Trash Can (Comic by Kyra Organa)

Let's kick off Kyra's marathon with the first comic this blog has seen! She had a higher-quality image sent, too, but it would only work as a word document on my computer, and I can't upload word documents to Blogger, so I had to use the original. So, for those who can't read it, I've included the following below: Part 1:  Trash Can: For years we've been hiding in the shadows! Sign: Stop Treating Us Like TRASH! Part 2: Subtitle: Life, Death, Trashcans Trash Can: We have been abused! Society doesn't know how crucial we are to its survival. We will rise and fight! Many will lose their lives, but we will have vengeance! Part 3: Trash Can: Vengeance! Part 4: Subtitle: The next morning... Man: Why? HOWEVER! This is also a contest! Kyra's Trash Can sequel is up against Spitfire's Bacon sequel, so let's pause Kyra's marathon in order to present Spitfire's part of the contest (Cast your votes in the comments!): Hunt for Bac

Lark Adventures: Shopping Aftermath (Written by Al)

Me: Lark, I cannot believe you snuck in my bag and came to the dress shop with me!  Lark: You have a terrible taste in fashion and what do you expect? You don't know Chanel from j. crew.  Me: what? Lark: exactly. I was doing you a favor. Me: By wreaking havoc and terrifying me? Lark: don't be so dramatic. Me: Lark! At least I found a dress. I don't know how, but at least I found one, with all the yelling you were doing. Even if it is three sizes too small its something.  Lark: May I speak now, arrogant, irritating human?  Me: No. You howled and the other costumers had a fit! Who takes their cat shopping? Please don't interrupt when I am sewing though, okay? the dress needs a lot of work - I stil can't believe you came? to a store! I put you in a cart and didn't know it! Lark clears throat. please don't try to help me sew it, and please, don't come shopping again! I am so lucky I found that, but if you come shopping, they will never l

(UPDATED) Mark Borne News: Issue #6

No time to comment on my recent activity, I've got too much exciting news to write about! :D I have started writing a series of Endgame poems! The first one written is Tony Stark, but I also have Steve Rogers being made, and Thor, Bruce Banner, and Natasha Romanov waiting to be made as well.Others I may write will be Black Panther, Spiderman, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon, Patriot, Captain Marvel, Nick Fury, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Finish This Book: it's a book that you complete, that contains puzzles, codes, and secrets. I have begun working through it, but don't read if you'd rather complete the book of your own free will! Lark Adventures has not been written yet; the question is, when will it arrive?! Find out soon! (I can write them pretty fast.) The Spring Collaborative Challenge still has only me and one other participant. There's still time to submit if you want to; I'll be accepting them as they arrive, as I'm not doing weekl

Harry Potter Poem

Sorry, guys! I was going to have an update for the Finish This Book quest, but I don't have that ready, yet, and the club I'm in had a prompt for writing a poem using the titles of different books, so I've got this, but not my update, yet. I'll try to post the update later today. The Sorcerer’s Stone may have been important, But the Chamber of Secrets really caused a scare. The Prisoner of Azkaban wasn’t really dangerous, Yet the Goblet of Fire hardly proved as harmless. The Order of the Phoenix would surely restore hope, Perhaps hope the Half-Blood Prince won’t destroy. The Deathly Hallows not once, but twice struck out, Yet Harry Potter in the end firmly saved the world.

Incorrect Movie Summaries: Coco (Presented by Mark Borne)

First off, a small speech on the makings of Incorrect Movie Reviews: I was watching Coco and I made a joke about the moral of the story, and this idea hit me. WARNING: Spoilers present! This is a summary that gets the plot of the movie wrong, sort of how Honest Trailers do it, however spoilers may still be present. The movie takes place in a town where music is life for everyone, except Miguel's family. The backstory is that a musician disappeared, and thus his wife hated him, and she passed that hatred onto her grandchildren and their children and then the children of those. Yet Miguel, a bit cracked in the head, loved music, and thus sought to become a musician like his hero, "de la Cruz" (who was crushed by a giant bell). Believing de la Cruz would forgive him, he steals the musician's guitar from his tomb, as if no one would recognize that the guitar was missing, and no one would recognize the guitar he held in his hand as he played. Unfortunately, thou

Endgame: Tony Stark

In preparation for Avengers: Endgame, I have started writing a series of poems for the older MCU characters. The first one is for Tony Stark. Tony Stark was finally done, His suit was wrecked, and his honor gone; With a sigh, His glasses he removed, And on the sand, Then then rested. Tony Stark was finally done, He saved his friends, And Thanos he stopped, So onto others, The burden fell.

ATTENTION! (April Fools 2019 Prank)

I'm sorry to say this, but my blog is dying. Views have been coming in less and less, and overall, March was more like a January, just with different posts. So, because of this, my blog will be deleted on 4/6/2019, this upcoming Saturday. In its place will be the magnificent "Mark Reborne" blog, which will feature everything this blog has, plus the ability to customize the theme from your end of the computer screen! Below is a list of the features the Mark Reborne blog will have: Fully customizable interface  The ability to directly post your content onto the blog, without having to go through me Compatibility with both Blogger and Wordpress On-site video games And much, much more... So yes, the Mark Borne Nexus will be going away, but soon, something better will take its place. Thank you for your time and support! APRIL FOOLS! I don't know how to add any of those features, and so I'll content myself with a blog that will probably get stronger after

Mark Is Great (Poem by Lucy J.)

For a second, not a moment more, (Oh, had I wished for a moment more, Just one!) I’ve reached predictable doubts— Lest, I should remember, Upon something so enriched by the fosse Of collective old hope that thatched its own death, Oh, the onset of some funeral but of this, it was for my hope, As it expired; Send the remembrance of not glory, But of that visiting pride, wrought with bracts Hemming themselves to the dead sod below my feet; Those crooning graves, I’ve once said, now brought remembrance That hope and pride lie here with sweet surrender; I was too proud in the steep of bets, And I have fairly lost to the one and only “ant”, But, wait! One second, before I concede! I must admit— Something I once again done, And never shall I bet again, Never shall I again, As I’ve stumped all my guesses, With something to never be undone, but not a wasted minute more, Unlike the breached oaths in between of Dolos, I admit to my mistake of being too smug… Mark is great. Mark is just awesome;
