The April Ant Awards!

...ant awards...huh...has a nice ring to it! (No, I didn't accidentally release this early, I intentionally released it early.) First, I REALLY want to pull the poll stats! They shocked me so badly! I expected Narnia to get a few votes, sure; but Narnia won with a total of seven votes, 63.6% if all the votes !!! Incredible, right?! The Hunger Games came in second with 2 votes, which wasn't bad considering how I added it in after the poll actually opened. Star Trek and Star Wars both came in tied for third with 1 vote, and Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings came in last with no votes whatsoever. If I recall, there was no competition, so I will instead bring news: Lucas' birthday has been declared to be in May! Not a bad birthday month, actually, and lets me have one extra Lucas Story before then, which I've got a good idea for. READER OF THE MONTH! You know you've been waiting for it! (I think?) The reader of the month is...Marysa Storm! Congratulations! You w

Mark Borne News: Issue #5

This issue has a big issue. That issue (and this issue) is called "Writer's Laziness". (Credit to my friend Sajwa Sabree for naming this terrible disease.) Basically, it describes the severe lack of motivation to write, enjoyment of writing, and inspiration for writing. It's what happens when a writer has plenty of time to write, but doesn't even try to come up with ideas, and resorts to other activities, such as walking, gaming, sleeping, eating, or wasting time, all things you wouldn't expect a writer to ever do. I have performed each and every one of these activities since Writer's Laziness hit me, all in an effort to have an excuse not to write. So, no, the past few days I have not been busy, I've been lazy. I apologize for the lack of content which has, therefore, existed on my blog, and will try to get back into the mood. (I'm considering binge-watching Netflix for story ideas.) But, onto more important news! Not one, but two Lark Adventu

Watching Time (Novel): Chapter 10 (It)

John noted once again that sleep would be difficult, if not impossible, to reach. He sighed, sat up, and rubbed his eyes. If I can’t sleep, I might as well stay awake.           He stared at the picture that rested on his dresser, the one solid surface other than the floor. The picture featured a girl he had been very good friends with a year previously. As always, he was drawn to the eyes. Her eyes were emerald green, although he remembered that they appeared how her eyes would turn blood red whenever she called upon her powers…           The powers that she had tried to keep buried deep down, until it found them.           Since that night, he hadn’t seen her. She had told him to run, and when he didn’t, she stopped fighting it long enough to teleport him away. John had no idea if she had survived, or what had happened to her.           She might have died trying to save me.           John walked over and picked the picture up, once again absorbing her appearance. He kne

Watching Time Warning

...so... ...I've said in the past that Watching Time is a realistic novel... ...I've also said that I'm really bad at keeping my novels at that genre... ... ... ... ...yep, it's no longer realistic. It still won't contain as much action, thus giving it a less adventurous feel, but fantasy will be present. The first mentions of supernatural forces will be in Chapter 10. Just a heads up. Don't get upset. I made a new record; 9 chapters, 40 pages, 10,000 words; that's a lot for me in just the realistic genre! I will assure you, though; the main genre will remain as "mystery". There are still secrets, discoveries, and twists that I plan on continually adding. If you aren't into fantasy, my feelings wouldn't be hurt if you stopped reading it; to be honest, I probably deserve it, since I practically misled everyone on my blog. -Mark Borne

Round (Poem by Mark Borne)

Cicles; Such a beautiful shape. There are no twists, No sudden turns. It's a cycle of preparation, Of determined paths. But it remains forever dull, Chances you expect, Can always see. Things never change, And soon you see, The same faces again.

Story Feedback Form

If you happen to be bored (BORED; not procrastinating! Several of my friends read my blog when they should be making school a priority. Yes, several, more than one. I'm not a great role-model, I guess) and you happened to have read my Watching Time story so far, I have an idea... Go to this link and complete a survey about Watching Time Part 1: Belonging , and give me ideas for how to continue the story! It's that simple! Of course, if it's simple, it'll only cure boredom for about two minutes. On the bright side, for those who probably won't listen, it only causes people to procrastinate about two minutes, as well! :D -Mark Borne

Lark Adventures: Lark Vs. Rock Music (Written by Al)

Lark: I have come across the most amazing thing in of my kingdom! Me: What? If its another catnip spree forget it. I am not buying any more catnip, No more catnip smoothies, or catnip grass or catnip toast. You broke the toaster. Lark: No, I have found music! Me: Well, yeah, I mean I play it everyday - you didn't observe it before? I play it EVERY day. I thought cats observed things. Lark: Don't insult me, I only observe important things. I have now found music to be important along with catnip, cheese (cheese lures mice) - Me, softly: only in cartoons Lark: and crackers. But music is new, and I love it. I must here more and I demand you bring me more. Me: Okay flip the radio stations then. Lark, folding his legs and adjusting his monocle: No, I demand you do it. I desire to hear Queen, David Bowie, Maddonna, the rolling stones and taylor swift. Me: I can't stream music. Lark: Your box says you can. Me: What box??? Lark: Alexa, Are you not the human version of

"Be Sure To..." Sentences

A new feature has been added! Right underneath the pages, you can now see a phrase. It will always start with "Be Sure To" and then contain additional content. The first one is, "Be sure to tell someone today how awesome they are!" I plan on only changing the word in bold until I run out of ideas. Be sure to check back daily to read the new message! (Disclaimer: I may not remember to do it every day. You might have to remind me.) Note: Please give me ideas if you can; I might need them!

Lark Adventures: The Meowmurra (Written by Al)

Me: Oh my stars there is a ghost in the house!!!!!!!!  Lark: I shall summon my supernatural friends and we shall see this creature to its ... dwelling. Me: You are not a psychic or medium lark. you are a cat with too much pride and a bigger ego than healthy. Lark: You will see. So what happened with this ghost? Me: Well last night the dog cage started shaking and rattling like something was being dragged against it - Lark: aha! so I thought. It is a Meowmurra. Me: A Meo whatta? Lark: An ancient cat being, a wise, old ancestor come to tell me something of me fortune hidden in the underground. Me: You do not make any sense. like... none. sorry. Lark: Probably my grandmother. What else? Me: I don't think I should tell you. Lark: HUMAN! THIS IS DIRE!!!!! Me: It gave my mom a nightmare. Lark: aha! so I thought - Me: let me guess, not its a Purrcatnip? Lark: No, it is worse. it is not my grandmother nor is it in any way feline.  Me: Be serious, please, I beg of you.

Mark Borne News: Issue #4

YEEEEEEEESSSS! And no! I just realized I forgot to keep up with a blog I've been reading through, thus the "no", and I've got a ton of great news to share, thus the "YEEEEEEEESSSS"! Vote now: "Yes" or "No"? First up, I would like to announce not one, but two Lark Adventures coming up, thanks to Al! The first one is to be released tomorrow the 17th and the second is going to be released the following day. For those of you who can't do math when you're super tired, and are still affected by time change, I went through the difficult process of plugging it into the calculator, and found out after five minutes of effort that the day after the 17th is the 18th, so keep an eye out on the 17th and 18th for the next two Lark Adventures! Also, Watching Time has resumed development, now that my (not-so-good) friend Writer's Block decided to go on vacation! Chapter 9 has been released and Chapter 10, while I haven't started

Watching Time (Novel): Chapter 9 (Secrets)

Naomi knocked on the red door, and soon, a woman answered. “Oh, Naomi, it’s been awhile!”           “I’ve been busy,” Naomi lied. “Is Mark here?”           “Actually, I think he went to the park,” Mrs. Storm apologized. “If you find him, could you tell him Aleniah has been looking for him?”           “Yes, ma’am,” Naomi nodded, and walked off. The park? Why would he go there? Ethan stiffened when he saw Mark approaching, and glanced warily at Fia. She didn’t know, but Mark did. Please don’t talk about my education!           “Hello, Mark!” Fia exclaimed. “Ethan got off work this week!”           “And off school, too, right?” Mark commented. His eyes widened as he saw Ethan’s pale expression. “Definitely feels that way given how easy it is, right?”           Fia squinted at Ethan, but there wasn’t a hint of suspicion in her eyes; only friendly accusation. “School is not easy!”           “It can be,” Ethan shrugged, saying no more. He could tell from Fia’s expression

URGENT UPDATE: Collaborative Challenge

I have precisely 0 submissions. I guess that makes sense, a few people I had been counting on doing it had suddenly become very busy before it actually started. And, if I'm going to be honest, I really didn't expect much to come of it, anyways. (Exaggeration, my friends; the mark of a true bard.)    But, if you are reading this, and you have not been commenting on my blog, I urge you, if you have time, please participate! This is a great way to get involved in the community here, and it's bound to make an excellent first impression! Not to mention it would provide more writers for the challenge than just Lucy and me.    In fact, you know what, now I have added a space in the submission form so that every time someone submits a part for the challenge, I will have to write a poem with a theme of their choosing. Plus, if you really don't want to get into the community quite yet, and you don't comment on the blog much, you can just use a random pen name that comes off

"Watching Time: Chapter 9" Update

Watching Time Chapter 9 is making some great progress, and I hope I can share it tomorrow! Just wanted to alert you guys that it was coming, since it's been a while. You all probably remember what happened last, but I sure wouldn't've. Personally, I think Chapter 9 is my best so far, as it enhances the plot while only answering questions that no one has asked, and leaving spaces for questions everyone's going to ask. Here's a quick recap for all the chapters so far: Chapter 1:     A rich man named Earl, who appears to be originally British, adopts Myra, who's not happy about it all. Earl mentions Mark and Naomi, even commenting on how Mark once saved Naomi's life, although he didn't elaborate.    Mark, who's talking with Naomi, notes that she's getting more emotionally unstable, and only getting worse after her mother's death. Myra, who arrives shortly afterwards, gets off on the wrong foot with Mark, causing an near-rival relationship a
