Too Late (Poem by Mark Borne)

You only need the light when it's burning low,
You only miss the sun when it starts to snow.
You only see the light when the storm grows strong,
You only know what's right once you've gone wrong.
You only hate the road when you're missing home,
You only want your friends when you're all along.
You only feel the pain once it's been too late,
You're only locked outside once they close the gate.

  1. Wow! This is such a sad/beautiful/relateable poem! I also liek how your rhyme scheme seems pretty natural. *thumbs up*

  2. Cool and pretty poem, Mark! :) But, I don't think all those rhymes are yours.

    1. Not all of them are, that's true

I based the poem around a writing prompt. The prompt was to write a poem centered around a couple of lines of a song. I chose the song, "Let Her Go", which is where I got lines 1, 2, and 5. Lines 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 were my own lines, so some of the rhymes were mine, but about a third of the lines were from that song

Would You Rather...? (#1)

These "Would You Rathers" are small, but they're meant to start debates. Debates, not arguments! Anyways, here's the first one: "In a mystery novel, would you rather have a friend by your side helping you while risking his/her own life... ...or would you rather have your friend safe at home counting on you to solve the mystery and come out safely?"
