Mark Borne News: Issue #9 (And June Ant Awards!)

This is a two-in-one post! Not only will we cover the monthly Ant Awards, we will talk about recent blog developments!

For starters, I want to bring attention to the new label, "Mark's Choice"! This label will be given to posts Mark has particularly enjoyed; posts I have added so far include the new post "Abandoned", the first "Lark Adventures" by Al, Sila's "Broccolini", and "How to Write a Novel" by Luxa! (I wanted to add couple of Shaly's poems, too, but I cannot find the ones that stuck out to me, and I can't remember their names, either. Can you remember which ones they were, Shaly? If so, I can add them.)

Also, I have a new blog moderator/writer, who has access to all the same tools I do, now: M. Blake! Granted, none of you knows who he is, and he's not super talkative, and he's doing practically nothing right now, but he's quite busy right now, too, and he's still familiarizing himself with the blog. Give him time!

Details on the May contest will be released on a later date, but don't worry, it'll be soon!

As far as the referenced roleplay goes, it'll feature everyday life in a fantasy environment. It'll be completely Free-For-All, meaning you don't have to wait in line to add to the RP, or worry about restrictions. (By the way, that's what the April and May polling was about; they were deciding the features of the roleplay. Surprise!) I'll create the roleplay soon.

The Reader of the Month is...drumroll please...SPITFIRE! As long as she doesn't spit fire or anything! -Listens to typical "Failed Joke" sound in background- Well, I never said my jokes were good, did I? Anyways, congratulations, Spitfire! (If anyways has any ideas for choosing Reader of the Month, let me know. Soon, I'm going to be forced to choose duplicates.)

The Post of the Month is...oof...a really tough choice. I decided a while back Broccolini, but after Abandoned popped up, I had to think about it. In the end, I still chose Broccolini, but whoever wrote Abandoned, you were really close! Give a hand to BROCCOLINI!

Last and least, the first wave of Mageborn Studios photos are on the way! I've taken them all, but I'm still working on filtering them.

As always, please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements, questions regarding the blog, or if you're just bored! I promise to do what I can to reach you within 24 hours of your comment, unless I've otherwise specified I'll be gone.

-Mark Borne

  3. Good Morning, Mark. :) Sorry, for not coming on sooner. I wanted to admit to you I wrote, "Abandoned." And thank you, I was kind of surprised you liked that piece so much. Then, I do remember you liked, "Cry," "Credo (I Believe)," "Sunset at Hiroshima," "Mother (Short Story)," and, "Father (Come Back!)," by me.

Would You Rather...? (#1)

These "Would You Rathers" are small, but they're meant to start debates. Debates, not arguments! Anyways, here's the first one: "In a mystery novel, would you rather have a friend by your side helping you while risking his/her own life... ...or would you rather have your friend safe at home counting on you to solve the mystery and come out safely?"

Nexus Mad Libs

I assume most of you are familiar with what Mad Libs are. Basically, you're given a bunch of blanks to fill in, and you do so without knowing what the story is. Each blank has a part of speech labeling it, and that blank needs something that fits the part of speech. For example: Adjective: ________ --> Adjective: Explosive In the end, we usually have a hilarious end result that makes no sense whatsoever. One example is this (which is a real result I got once with my siblings): "Another way to help you fall asleep faster is drinking a nuclear glass of warm vinegar ." First, let's go over some rules. Obviously, keep it family friendly. This still goes for all blog content. Do not submit two words in a row. Submit one, and when someone else does one, you may do another. Submit through comments. That'll make it easier for me to assemble the final result. The category is Medieval Heroes . Here are the blanks: Adjective: Constipated (Kyra) Per

Q/A With Shaly

This was bound to happen, like so much that the one that is probably next is I don't know... The Poet of Steel or Spitfire or Lady Knight, or just some other crazy. Plus, you guys know the drill. Mark's Addition : So...well...yeah, if anyone else wants to do one, let me know. Apparently, this is the thing to do on my blog right now, though I admit, I have no clue why.
